The 'Rolls Royce' of waterproofing

There's waterproofing, and then there's waterproofing properly.

A lick of liquid paint on membrane is often a bit of an 'empty promise' in our experience. It may stop a leak temporarily, but give it some time, and the leak is bound to return or find another way in.

When it comes to waterproofing, we support our Body Corporate clients to do things properly, so that they only need to do it once. That means:

  1. engaging a specialist waterproofing contractor to prepare a product specification and methodology that will achieve the outcome of stopping the leaks. This means making sure the proposed waterproofing product will be effective for the area (e.g. UV stable if it is an area that will be exposed to the sun, chlorine resistant if it is near a pool, trafficable if it proposed to be walked on etc);

  2. obtaining quotes from specialist waterproofing contractors (who are experienced in installing the specified waterproofing product);

  3. preparing a building contract for the project to ensure it is clear what the parties agreed;

  4. in suitable cases, having the new membrane tested and inspected at hold points to reduce the risk of it leaking at completion (this is especially important for planter waterproofing projects because you don't want to dig all the soil out afterwards to test);

  5. ensuring that all product and installer warranties are provided to the Body Corporate upon completion of the product;

  6. ensuring building management understand the ongoing maintenance requirements of any warranty (this means actually printing the warranty out and putting it in a location near the new membrane so that humans can read and comply with it).

    Example of the beautiful new membrane installed on the Victoria Square Broadbeach gym and toilet block roof with conductive tapered insulation so that it can be tested (using yellow rod) annually to verify that the membrane has no leaks:
